Synopsys India University Program

The Synopsys Worldwide University Program delivers industry-leading electronic design automation (EDA) tools and educational resources to engineering universities around the globe. Synopsys products are used in more than 170 educational institutions in India, touching thousands of professors and students each year. Using Synopsys products in a learning environment enables students to master today’s technologies through instruction and hands-on experience and gives graduates a head start on delivering future advancements in the field.

EDA Tools
Synopsys provides universities with a comprehensive portfolio of EDA tools, IP and libraries for digital and analog/mixed-signal IC design. Whether designing and prototyping at the system level, creating an FPGA or ASIC, or optimizing technologies and devices for silicon – Synopsys has the tools you need.

Curriculum
Synopsys has more than 130 full-semester courses available for Bachelor’s and Master's programs in microelectronic design, as well as a variety of topic-specific materials for workshops, short lectures and labs.

Generic Libraries, iPDKs and Generic Memory Compiler
To complement the EDA tools and courseware, Synopsys offers 90nm and 32/28nm Generic Libraries and the Interoperable Process Design Kits (iPDKs) as well as a Generic Memory Compiler, enabling students to gain valuable experience using a complete design flow and to master advanced design methods in low power and analog/mixed signal.

Training and Support
Hands-on training for Synopsys tools and methodologies, as well as technical support, is available to member universities by visiting our SolvNet online knowledge base or by sending an email to: support_center@synopsys.com

Instructor-led classroom training courses with hand-on labs are available to instructors at member universities through Synopsys Customer Education Services. University instructors can attend tool training workshops at any Synopsys training center (only applies to Synopsys-taught courses) on a space-available basis. The courses vary from introductory level to advanced design methodology.

Training Centers in India are located in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Noida. For a complete list of courses and availability please refer to the catalogue of courses and training calendar.

Online training is also available through SolvNet. Pre-recorded training modules can be viewed anytime at your convenience. They are short, self-paced sessions that highlight product updates, tools, and design methodology training.

Synopsys supports universities with access to comprehensive Bachelor’s and Master’s programs for microelectronic design and EDA development. Course materials can be used to implement a new course or supplement content in an existing course quickly and easily.

All courseware may be downloaded from the Synopsys University Program Member Only website (requires SolvNet ID and password). To see a current list of available courses, please visit our main Worldwide University Program Curriculum page.

Full Semester Courseware
Synopsys has more than 130 full-semester courses available for Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in microelectronic design and EDA. Each full-semester course contains ~15 weeks of material, including a syllabus, lectures, labs, homework and exams.

Workshops and Lectures
Synopsys also offers curriculum support modules that vary in length and include more Synopsys tool training materials than what is offered in the full-semester courseware. Workshops and additional lectures cover topics on implementation, verification and TCAD.

Short Lectures and Labs
Short lectures and labs that cover topics on circuit simulation, low-power design, OpenSPARC and more are also included. Synopsys tools are discussed and applied in each short lecture and lab for a thorough and practical understanding of the concepts.

Synopsys Curricula Advisory Board
The Synopsys Curricula Advisory Board is a group of academic experts working together to develop new microelectronic design courseware for Synopsys University Program members. In addition to generously helping to create and share some of their own materials, board members also provide valuable reviews and input for Synopsys developed courseware, as well as contributing to the overall content and direction of our program.

90-nm, 32/28-nm Generic Libraries, iPDKs, and Generic Memory Compiler
In addition to EDA tools and IP, universities need access to libraries, process design kits and memory compilers to implement a complete IC design flow. Synopsys developed the Generic Library and the Interoperable Process Design Kit (iPDK) in 90-nm and 32/28-nm versions as well as a Generic Memory Compiler to aid faculty in teaching modern microelectronic design techniques and to provide students with real-world design experiences that help to prepare them for careers in the industry.

Generic Libraries
The Synopsys 90-nm and 32/28-nm Generic Libraries are designed for teaching and enable students to master advanced design methods such as low power. They include sample designs, as well as support for the OpenSPARC, PowerPC® 405 and Cortex M0™ processors.

Content includes:
  • Digital Standard Cell Library
  • I/O Standard Cell Library
  • I/O Special Cell Library
  • Set of Memories
  • Set of Low Power Memories
  • Phase Locked Loop
  • Design References

Interoperable Process Design Kits
