The Synopsys PrimeTime SIG is an active community for all PrimeTime users and design engineers who want to stay connected with the latest developments in the field of Static Timing Analysis (STA).
PrimeTime SIG at SNUG India 2013
A PrimeTime SIG event, Advanced ECO Methodology, was held in Bangalore, India, during India SNUG on June 12, 2013. PrimeTime users and managers from top semiconductor companies attended the event. Presenters from Qualcomm and STMicroelectronics shared their experiences with PrimeTime Advanced ECO technologies.
Members of the PrimeTime R&D team were also present during this event.
Customer presentations are available for download from SolvNet.
Subrangshu, Director of Platform and SoC Development in the Processor Organization, kicked off and moderated the event, and shared his vision and expectations of advanced ECO methodologies.
Alireza, Senior R&D Manager, PrimeTime, reviewed Advanced ECO Methodology for faster design closure.
Varun, Staff Engineer CPU-GPU Team, Technology R&D Group, shared the ST experience on the latest leakage recovery ECO feature from PrimeTime. He showed how the highly flexible usage of PrimeTime leakage recovery enables both dynamic and leakage power recovery in his designs. He highlighted the 15% additional leakage recovery and 5% additional total power savings he was able to achieve by using PrimeTime leakage recovery during timing closure. He also shared his vision of physically-aware ECO, and initial evaluation results from other ST divisions.
Rajesh, Staff Engineer, shared how PrimeTime leakage recovery filled the gap in the current low power design flow. He showed how the PrimeTime leakage recovery feature reduces the leakage power on ARM cores and graphic blocks by up to 56%. At the end of his presentation, he described how the Galaxy ECO flow reduces the turnaround time and efforts of timing closure by IC Compiler Minimal Physical Impact (MPI) and PrimeTime physically-aware ECO features.
