Cloud native EDA tools & pre-optimized hardware platforms
The LucidDrive tool – part of the LucidShape product family — provides the ability to perform virtual night-driving simulations that generate realistic lighting scenes in real time. Designers can quickly and accurately evaluate beam patterns for exterior automotive lighting applications on the road, traffic signs, and surroundings prior to expensive fabrication and testing.
LucidDrive version 2020.03 was recently released with a new tool, the afsPixelLight.do plug-in, that supports dynamic testing of pixel headlight designs.
A pixel headlight is a type of adaptive front-lighting system (AFS) that provides individual light cell illumination on the road with high resolution. A pixel light system subdivides the headlamp light pattern into angular segments that can be controlled individually and adjusted to accommodate changing driving and traffic conditions. Because the adaptability of pixel headlamps can substantially increase night-driving safety, advancing this technology has become a focus for automotive OEMs and lighting suppliers.
The afsPixelLight.do plug-in projects beam patterns of individual pixels during a virtual night drive, including possible stray light and crosstalk of one or more pixels across the entire angular beam width. It is a unique tool for evaluating pixel light system performance in a physically correct, non-idealized way, providing the needed feedback for engineers to validate or refine their design virtually prior to manufacturing.
It’s also part of a complete pixel headlight design and validation solution using CODE V, LucidShape, and LucidDrive:
