Message from Aart de Geus It has been my pleasure and an immense privilege to be part of Synopsys’ growth since its founding in 1986. For twenty years, our technology has been “at the heart of the heart” of high tech through our innovations in electronic design automation. With design creation, verification, design for manufacturing, IP reuse, and consulting services, we have been privileged to enable the electronics industry to achieve predictable success. We believe that we are not only helping to keep the worldwide economy growing in new ways, but we are also helping to create goods that are raising the standard of living for people on a global basis. We have always understood that we are fortunate, that we do not live or operate in a vacuum. As such, we have sought to be active and contributing members of the communities where we live and work, particularly in the field of education, from North America to Europe, the Middle East to Japan and Asia-Pac. Some of my proudest moments as Chairman and CEO of Synopsys have occurred when I have visited the science fairs that we have sponsored or the schools that we have helped build. Looking back on twenty years, what really stands out for me are the people with whom I have worked—both inside and outside the company. We have so many extraordinary customers and employees—people who are not just excellent at what they do, but who are also stimulating and inspiring to work with; truly, some of the greatest minds and biggest hearts on the planet today. Thank you to our customers and employees for twenty years of partnership in achieving excellence and innovation.
