Compute Platforms Roadmap

The Synopsys Compute Platforms Roadmap gives customers a look ahead at Synopsys' compute platforms support plans for hardware architectures and operating systems. Not all Synopsys products are released on all platforms listed in this Roadmap. The Synopsys Release Library at https://solvnet.synopsys.com/ReleaseLibrary, is the best source of information on product/platform availability.

Information contained in this page reflects Synopsys' plans as of the date of this presentation. Such plans are subject to completion and are subject to change. Products may be offered and purchased only pursuant to an authorized quote and purchase order. Synopsys is not obligated to develop the software with the features and functionality discussed in the materials.

Definitions

Operating system baseline:
The operating system version which Synopsys uses to build and test our products. You will achieve the greatest degree of success if you align your run-time environment with the Synopsys OS baseline for the platform you choose.

Binary compatibility (BC)
Versions of operating systems on which Synopsys performs compatibility testing. It is not possible for Synopsys to align operating system baseline with every operating system version. Recognizing that there are often compelling reasons for customers to migrate to the latest operating system versions, Synopsys also performs certification testing on these systems. Issues discovered on non-certified platforms must be duplicated on a certified platform and the issue will be addressed on the certified platform

A list of products and certified operating systems can be found in the Release Library at https://solvnet.synopsys.com/ReleaseLibrary

Synopsys Synchronized Release Model (SRM)

The Synopsys Synchronized Release Model consists of:

  • A common foundation of operating systems, compilers and tools that is set every 9 months
  • Quarterly product release opportunities - 3 per foundation, 4 per year
  • Product updates and feature releases can be made with any release opportunity

A foundation can change every 9 months. Mature operating systems, such as Solaris, can be expected to remain static for many foundations. Newer operating systems, such as Linux, may change with every foundation to keep up with market demand and vendor releases. Synopsys typically baselines on a single operating system version for each SRM Foundation.

The following table shows foundations and corresponding release opportunities:
