We live in this amazing time and place where we are experiencing greater celebration of the richness of diversity: Black History Month, Hispanic History Month, and Pride, just to name a few. At Synopsys, we rejoice and celebrate the eclectic members of our One Synopsys team that unite to ignite our passion for innovation and creativity.
Today, we are celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) 2021. Women in technology. Women in science. Women in the arts. Women in the humanities. Women in every facet of educational, professional, and personal choice. As a technology company, this year’s IWD theme, “Choose to Challenge,” is in keeping with our culture. We challenge technical constraints and social constructs. “Choose to Challenge” is an opportunity for everyone, collectively and individually, to make the choice for transformation and change.
To celebrate IWD, we are hosting a number of virtual events that are open to all of our employees worldwide. We are delighted to welcome guest speakers, like Rupa Dachere, CEO, founder, and president of Thrive-WiSE (formerly CodeChix), at our online event. Our global range of activities include:
- Highlighting innovation and achievements of women in STEM in Europe
- Learning from women who have paved the path for many, like Rituparna Mandal, general manager at MediaTek in South Asia
- Mastering stress and ensuring a thriving inclusive network in the Asia-Pacific region
#ChoosetoChallenge for a More Inclusive World
In addition to celebrating and learning from inspirational visionaries in technology who have paved the path for so many, we are also leaning in to a core element of our culture: Synopsys for Good, our commitment toward supporting the communities in which we live and work. In recognition of IWD, we’re encouraging employees to volunteer as mentors at the #GirlsInAI2021 Virtual Hackathon to help students design a product that addresses global sustainable development goals with open-source machine-learning tools, or to donate to Girls Who Code.
Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity: a Learning Journey
Because talent is at the heart of everything we do, we strive to be a career destination for top professionals across the globe. To that end, we facilitate contemporary training on important topics, engagement/belonging surveys, and pay and promotional reviews. We communicate and work toward goals to increase diversity for women globally and our Black, Latin, and Indigenous (BLI) employees in the U.S.
For our efforts so far, we are delighted to have been recognized by Forbes, which named Synopsys one of America’s Best Employers for Diversity 2020. Within Synopsys, we celebrate trailblazers in our I&D efforts. This year, our team award recognizes the design and development of our European Women in Leadership program. The same program also won Gold (1st Place) as the Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year in the WomenTech Global Awards 2020. We are also honored to recognize Latha Venkatachari, vice president of Applications Engineering, for her visionary efforts to create the company’s Women in Networking (WiN) forum to foster a greater sense of inclusion and empowerment.

While we’re humbled by the honors we’ve received, we are inspired to continue the journey to invest in our people, empower their actions, and promote equity for all.
