Cloud native EDA tools & pre-optimized hardware platforms
Innovations in silicon design, verification, and IP technologies highlighted Synopsys’ SNUG Israel 2022, where the electronic design community learned about the latest advancements for the semiconductor industry. Speakers from leading companies gathered at the Daniel Hotel in Herzliya to address key growth areas including AI, machine learning, cloud, and automotive, as well as the design-to-implementation flow. The takeaway? Keep an eye out on semiconductor developments from this region.
“Israeli companies have been at the forefront of semiconductor innovation,” said Aharon Aharon, former CEO of the Israel Innovation Authority and former VP of Hardware Technologies at Apple and GM of Apple Israel. “I see an exciting opportunity for Israeli tech to lead the next generation of chips into the quantum era.”
Aharon delivered the customer keynote speech, “Israel–The land of milk, honey…and chips?!”, at the conference. He referred to the challenge of recruiting and retaining local and global semiconductor talent and reviewed the potential impacts of trends such as silicon photonics, bio-chips, and quantum physics on the Israeli eco-system.
Shankar Krishnamoorthy, general manager of the Silicon Realization Group at Synopsys, delivered the keynote address, “From Atoms to Systems, EDA Innovation in the SysMoore Era.” Krishnamoorthy (pictured below) discussed macro trends in innovation that leverage both software and chips to create world-changing products.
Referring to the SysMoore era, Shankar described the forces that got us to this new model of innovation and discussed the substantial challenges that must be addressed. He also highlighted the investments made by Synopsys to help designers unlock innovation.
During this year’s SNUG Israel, Synopsys had dedicated tracks covering fields such as software and hardware verification, IP, cloud, simulation and debug, emulation and FPGAs, implementation, signoff, and analog/mixed-signal design.
Since 1991, the Synopsys Users Group (SNUG) has represented a global design community focused on innovating from silicon to software. Today, as the electronics industry’s largest user conference, SNUG brings together over 12,000 Synopsys tool and technology users across North America, Europe, Asia, Japan and Israel. In addition to peer-reviewed technical presentations and insightful keynotes from industry leaders, SNUG provides a unique opportunity to connect with Synopsys executives, design ecosystem partners, and members of your design community.
