Photonic Solutions Software Updates

Synopsys OptoCompiler and Synopsys OptSim

Synopsys OptoCompiler and Synopsys OptSim version 2024.09-SP1 include the following changes:

  • New constraint denoting that a net should be implemented by abutment directly, not allowing transparent connectors
  • Fixes and enhancements on transparent connector technology
  • Better visualization of generated waveguide crossings in crossing assistant

RSoft Photonic Device Tools

The RSoft Photonic Device Tools 2024.09-SP1 release includes:

  • Improvement to the RSoft CAD and other tools to relax the restriction on the number of characters in an expression (previously <80). Note the limitation on the number of characters in symbol names remains <32.
  • Improvements to DiffractMOD's feature for non-orthogonal unit cells. These include improvements on the numerical accuracy of the results,
  • as well as improvements on diagnostics such as Analyze Profile to show the full simulation domain along with and outline of the unit cell to indicate the portion actually relevant to the simulation.
  • Improvements to the coherent features of the RSoft BSDF UDOP for LightTools.
  • Changed default for internal FullWAVE optimizations that customers experienced issues with in 2024.09.  The change restores 2023.12 behavior.
  • Miscellaneous improvements/corrections.

For details about these and many other enhancements in this release, see the RSoft Photonic Device Tools Release Notes on SolvNetPlus.
