History of CODE V and LightTools Glass Database Changes

This page includes history information for both CODE V and LightTools. LightTools history was added to this page beginning with the 2023.03 FCS release. Contact LightTools Support for previous LightTools glass history.

Note: The current glass catalog files and macro data files are compatible only with CODE V version 11.5 FCS or later. The current glass catalog files are compatible only with LightTools 2022.03 or later.

Note:

CODE V and LightTools glass catalog files are derived from manufacturer-supplied data files. On 12/12/2022 CDGM issued a new data file, named CDGM202206.xlsx. In that file, 37 existing glasses were updated to provide dispersion coefficients for newer manufactured glasses. This means that there are two sets of dispersion coefficients for each of the 37 glasses. The appropriate set of dispersion coefficients depends on the date of manufacture. CODE V and LightTools releases from 2023.03 FCS to present continue to use the dispersion coefficients for CDGM glasses issued before CDGM202206.xlsx. We plan to update the CDGM glass catalogs in the future as glass supplies are converted to the newer types. Optical engineers should consult with CDGM (http://www.cdgmgd.com) to make sure that their glass name and dispersion coefficients accurately represent the intended glass.
